Alex Eala continued her dream run at Wimbledon after staging a remarkable comeback to defeat Australia's Maya Joint, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, and book a place in the third round of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament.

With the victory, the 21-year-old became the first Filipino to reach the third round of a Grand Slam singles tournament, marking another historic milestone for Philippine tennis. Eala recovered from dropping the opening set and dominated the rest of the match, winning 12 of the final 14 games to seal an emphatic comeback.

The win also avenged Eala's heartbreaking loss to Joint in last year's Eastbourne Open final. She capped off the match with back-to-back aces, drawing loud cheers from Filipino supporters at the All England Club.

Eala will next face defending Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek of Poland in the third round, with a place in the Round of 16 at stake. Swiatek advanced after a straight-sets victory over Karolina Pliskova.

A victory over Swiatek would send Eala into the Round of 16 and move her one step closer to a historic Wimbledon title. If she advances, she would still need to win her Round of 16 match, the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final to capture her first Grand Slam singles championship.

A graduate of the Rafa Nadal Academy and the highest-ranked Filipina in WTA history, Eala continues to inspire Filipino sports fans as she pursues an even deeper run at one of tennis' most prestigious tournaments.
