A young man from Baguio City has brought honor not only to his hometown but to the Philippines after successfully graduating from the Japan National Defense Academy, one of Japan’s premier military institutions.

Cadet First Class Jhoshua Othoc Garcia, a former Civil Engineering student of the University of Baguio, completed four years of rigorous academic and military training under a foreign training program of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA). On March 14, 2026, Garcia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, marking a significant milestone in a journey that began when he was selected by the PMA to represent the country abroad.
The achievement drew recognition from the Baguio City government, which commended Garcia for his exemplary performance and dedication. City officials said his success reflects the excellence, resilience, and commitment of Baguio’s youth, while serving as an inspiration to aspiring military leaders and young Cordillerans pursuing careers in public service.

Garcia’s graduation was formally recognized through Baguio City Council Resolution No. 238, Series of 2026. The city hailed his accomplishment as a testament to hard work, discipline, and patriotism, expressing hope that his journey will encourage more young Filipinos to pursue excellence and serve the nation with honor.
