Four Benguet police officers are being hailed as heroes after risking their own safety to rescue and administer first aid to victims of a vehicular accident along the dangerous Lamut-Shilan Road in La Trinidad, Benguet.

PSMS Morgan A. Biadno, PSSg Ronalyn P. Pagtud, PSSg Reynald W. Cabesa, and PCpl Joerex T. Dulay received the Medalya ng Pagkilala from the Benguet Police Provincial Office for their swift and decisive response during the May 5, 2026 accident.
According to Benguet PPO, the officers immediately rushed to assist the injured, helping stabilize the victims and preventing further injuries while waiting for emergency medical responders to arrive. Their actions during the critical moments after the crash were credited with helping save lives.
The recognition highlighted a side of policing rarely seen beyond operations and crime statistics, officers stepping into danger not to enforce the law, but to protect and preserve human life.
The awards were personally conferred by PCOL Ledon D. Monte, Officer-in-Charge of Benguet PPO, alongside PCOL Lambert A. Suerte, Deputy Director for Operations of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), during a ceremony recognizing exemplary acts of service, professionalism, and integrity.
Officials during the event stressed that true public service is reflected not only in anti-crime campaigns, but also in acts of compassion, courage, and immediate response during emergencies.
Certificates of Recognition were likewise awarded to stakeholders including DZWT, Bombo Radyo Baguio, Ms. Genzel Diones E. Depayso, and Ms. Noveh Grace D. Organo for supporting Benguet PPO’s anti-illegal drug campaign under “Oplan Ultimate Grasscutter 2026.”
The operations in Tublay and Kibungan, Benguet resulted in the destruction of 25,290 fully grown marijuana plants worth over ₱5 million.
