Claudia Barretto has filed a petition seeking to remove her father Dennis Padilla’s surname from her legal name and retain only her mother Marjorie Barretto’s family name.

A legal document shared by Padilla on social media identified the petitioner as “Claudia Isabelle Barretto Baldivia,” requesting the removal of “Baldivia,” the comedian’s real surname.
The petition listed the Office of the Solicitor General, the local civil registrars of Quezon City and Muntinlupa City, and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as respondents.
Padilla expressed sadness over his daughter’s decision in a series of Instagram posts, saying that his love for Claudia would remain unchanged despite the petition.
“Kung ang lungkot ko ay kasiyahan mo anak… Hindi magbabago ang pagmamahal ko sa’yo Claudia – Papa,” he wrote.
The comedian later added that he respected his daughter’s decision but admitted that the situation deeply saddened him.
The development comes months after Padilla’s public reaction to Claudia’s wedding to Basti Lorenzo in April 2025, where he expressed disappointment over being treated as a guest and not being given the opportunity to walk his daughter down the aisle.
Padilla uses his screen surname in honor of his father, the late veteran actor and comedian Dencio Padilla, whose real name was Prudencio Baldivia.
