INFANTA, Quezon — Fishermen landed a 253-kilogram bluefin tuna off the waters of Quezon province, bringing it to the Dinahican Fishport where it drew attention for its size.

The catch, hauled after days at sea in the Pacific waters near Quezon and Aurora, required several men to unload due to its weight. Bluefin tuna is among the most valuable fish species in the global market.
Despite this, the tuna was reportedly sold at only around ₱180 to ₱200 per kilo, or roughly ₱45,000 to ₱50,000 in total, lower than expected for a premium catch. According to global seafood market reports, bluefin tuna can reach ₱1,000 to over ₱5,000 per kilo in premium export markets, particularly for sashimi-grade quality.
