LAS PIÑAS CITY — A 15-year-old Grade 9 student died after he was allegedly stabbed by a fellow student inside Las Piñas National High School (LPNHS) Main during recess on Friday afternoon, July 31.

The victim was identified as Aron Miguel Duran Ontong, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident despite efforts to save him.

According to the initial police investigation, the stabbing allegedly stemmed from a dispute over a ₱10 change from a bottle of water purchased at the school canteen, which authorities identified as the apparent motive behind the fatal altercation. Investigators, however, continue to determine whether other factors may have also contributed to the incident.

The alleged assailant, a 14-year-old Grade 9 student, was taken into police custody and is now under the appropriate procedures for a minor in conflict with the law. His identity is being withheld because he is a minor.

Reports also indicated that the two students had previous misunderstandings, although investigators have yet to determine the extent to which these may have influenced the incident.

Following the tragedy, family members, classmates, teachers, and members of the community mourned the loss of Aron. His wake is currently being held as loved ones continue to grieve his untimely death.

The victim's family continues to call for justice, urging authorities to ensure accountability and strengthen school safety measures to help prevent similar incidents from happening again.
