Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, the older sister of actress and TV host Kim Chiu, was arrested in Mandaluyong City over 124 counts of qualified theft linked to alleged transactions involving corporate funds.

The Quezon City Police District said Lakam was arrested on September 20 in Barangay Wack-Wack after police served a warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 84. The court set the recommended bail at ₱5.838 million.

The case stemmed from a complaint filed by Kim in December 2025 after alleged financial discrepancies were discovered in House of Little Bunny Philippines Inc. (HOLB), a company associated with the two sisters.

According to the Quezon City prosecutor’s September 1 resolution, the 124 charges involve a total of ₱44,396,331.65 in alleged withdrawals and online transfers from the company’s corporate bank accounts. Prosecutors said there was sufficient basis to proceed with the charges after reviewing the submitted evidence and statements.

Kim’s lawyer has emphasized that the case concerns corporate funds, rather than simply being a personal dispute between the sisters.

Lakam remains in police custody pending further court proceedings. The filing of charges and arrest do not by themselves establish guilt, which remains for the courts to determine.
