BAGUIO CITY — The Montañosa Film Festival 2026 is expanding its reach beyond physical screening venues as selected official entries become available for online streaming through the Filicoola app beginning May 10.

A total of 15 films from this year’s festival lineup will be featured in a special limited-time online showcase, allowing audiences across the Philippines and abroad to experience regional and independent cinema from anywhere. Viewers may stream individual films or avail of curated bundle packages featuring three, five, or seven films.

Six featured films will stream exclusively from May 10 to May 24: Manong, No Body But Tody, When Birds Can’t Fly, Lubog sa La Paz, Liyah, and Hindi Nawawala sa Pagkawala ang Alaala.

Meanwhile, nine additional festival selections will continue streaming until July 24, including Post Mortem Memories, Year 2471, Sol La Sol Fa Mi, The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog, Silkscreen, Pagsenyas, Pasalubong, Uncle Pete: The Voice of the Mountains, and Dagiti Awanan Timek a Kayo.

Festival organizers said the online screenings aim to extend the reach of regional and independent filmmaking beyond traditional festival spaces while creating greater accessibility for audiences unable to attend in-person screenings.

This year’s lineup presents a diverse range of narratives and documentaries tackling themes of memory, identity, heritage, resistance, grief, culture, environment, and community stories from different regions of the country.

According to organizers, the online initiative forms part of the festival’s continuing efforts to create wider platforms for emerging and independent filmmakers while strengthening appreciation for regional cinema and storytelling.

Audiences are also encouraged to explore the official film posters and trailers online ahead of the streaming launch through the festival’s official Facebook page Montañosa Film Festival.

The festival carries the theme “Visions and Voices Unbound,” highlighting fearless storytelling and the growing movement of regional filmmakers shaping contemporary Philippine cinema.
