NATIONAL MUSEUM OPENS BALER SITE, PUTS AURORA’S HERITAGE ON NATIONAL STAGE

BALER, Aurora — The National Museum of the Philippines has strengthened efforts to bring the country’s cultural heritage closer to Filipinos with the opening of its first-ever component museum in Central Luzon, establishing Baler as the region’s newest hub for history, culture, and the arts.

Officially inaugurated on June 30, the National Museum–Baler becomes the 22nd museum under the National Museum network nationwide. The new facility is dedicated to preserving and promoting Aurora’s rich history, cultural traditions, biodiversity, and artistic heritage, while expanding public access to the National Museum’s collections, educational programs, and services beyond major urban centers.

The inauguration coincided with the 24th Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day and was attended by First Son Vincent Marcos, senior Philippine government officials, representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in the Philippines, and institutional partners.

Among its permanent galleries are exhibits on Aurora’s historical and cultural legacy, the province’s biodiversity, selected masterpieces from the National Fine Arts Collection, and displays exploring the centuries-old historical ties between the Philippines and Spain.

Starting July 1, the National Museum–Baler will welcome visitors daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with free admission, offering both locals and tourists a new destination to experience the country’s rich heritage.
