Paolo Duterte criticizes Marcos' forfeiture case dismissal

Davao 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte criticized the Sandiganbayan's decision to dismiss the remaining forfeiture cases involving the alleged ill-gotten wealth of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

In a Facebook post, Duterte cited Civil Case No. 0141, which states that the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) filed a manifestation saying it would no longer present evidence “with respect to the remaining listed properties not covered by the partial summary judgments" after the Sandiganbayan dismissed the case.

Duterte added in his post that "the dismissal effectively spared the Marcos heirs from further litigation over the remaining properties listed in the case—assets that originally included billions of dollars worth of alleged investments, real estate, bank deposits, and foreign accounts identified by the government after EDSA."

The Sandiganbayan's Special Division noted that the dismissal was based on the PCGG’s manifestation and that most of the properties had already been recovered through other measures.

"Ang pangutana karon sa mga Pilipino, unsaon na lang pagpaningil sa mga nabilin nga mga assets kung mismong gobyerno na ang miatras sa pagpresentar og ebidensya? (The question now being asked by many Filipinos is: How can the remaining assets be recovered if the government itself has withdrawn from presenting evidence?)," added Duterte in his frustration in the dismissal of the case.

Duterte ended his post by saying, “Gitiwasan gyud nila ang mga Pilipino" (They have betrayed the Filipino people)! ”
