PMA CADETS TRAIN WITH THAI MILITARY ACADEMY TO STRENGTHEN ASEAN DEFENSE TIES

Ten graduating cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) underwent joint training and academic immersion with Thailand’s premier military academy, reinforcing defense cooperation and leadership development among future military officers in Southeast Asia.

The PMA cadets participated in a five-day reciprocal exchange with the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA) in Thailand from June 29 to July 3 under the Foreign Academy Exchange Program.

The visit allowed the Filipino cadets to train alongside their Thai counterparts, exposing them to different military doctrines, operational environments, leadership approaches, and academic instruction while fostering professional relationships that could strengthen future military cooperation within the ASEAN region.

During the program, the PMA delegation joined classroom immersion, athletic activities, and discussions with senior military officers, providing opportunities to compare military education systems and leadership training between the two institutions.

The cadets also toured military facilities, simulation centers, and historical sites, while visiting cultural landmarks that offered a broader understanding of Thailand’s military heritage and national identity.

According to PMA, the exchange aims to produce officers who are not only tactically competent but also culturally aware and capable of working alongside partner nations in addressing shared regional security challenges.

The reciprocal program likewise strengthens institutional ties between the Philippine Military Academy and the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, reflecting the Philippines’ continuing commitment to military diplomacy, professional development, and regional cooperation among the next generation of defense leaders.

The Academy said initiatives such as the PMA-CRMA exchange help prepare future officers for increasingly interconnected security environments while promoting mutual understanding, trust, and long-term collaboration among ASEAN military institutions.
