The Philippine Military Academy is strengthening the training of future Armed Forces officers by introducing more than 450 cadets to Olympic shooting and fencing—two precision sports aimed at enhancing focus, discipline, mental resilience, and decision-making beyond conventional military instruction.

As part of its growing partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission, PMA hosted an Olympic shooting demonstration on July 1 in collaboration with the Philippine National Shooting Association and foreign coach Mukhamedrakhmov Azizjon. Cadets were introduced to the fundamentals, safety protocols, and techniques of Olympic shooting, while gaining a deeper understanding of how the sport complements military marksmanship by promoting precision, patience, and mastery.

The following day, PMA welcomed the PSC National Fencing Team led by PSC Commissioner Walter Francis K. Torres. Coach Al Viscayno and national team members Von Eubert Gale, Cyrra Vergara, Andrea Jennelle Matias, and Kenji Viscayano showcased the fundamentals of fencing, emphasizing agility, tactical thinking, and mental sharpness.

PMA said the back-to-back Olympic sports demonstrations form part of its broader effort to develop well-rounded officers by combining military excellence with elite athletic training, exposing cadets to disciplines that build the physical and mental attributes essential to modern military leadership.
