Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano officially announced that the Senate will formally convene as an Impeachment Court at 3:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026.

This move marks the beginning of the constitutional trial of Vice President Sara Duterte following weeks of legislative deliberation in the lower house.
The announcement follows the formal transmission of the Articles of Impeachment from the House of Representatives. On late Wednesday, May 13, House Secretary-General Cheloy Garafil led the delivery of the documents to the Senate, effectively transferring the jurisdiction of the case to the upper chamber.
