Spider-Man: Brand New Day has opened to strong reviews from critics while delivering a record-breaking performance at the Philippine box office, marking one of the biggest theatrical debuts for a Spider-Man film in the country.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the fourth solo Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland picks up four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. With the world no longer remembering Peter Parker's identity, the story shifts back to a more grounded, neighborhood-focused adventure that emphasizes the hero's personal struggles and responsibilities.

Early critical reception has been largely positive. The film debuted with a 92% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe film in five years. Reviewers praised its emotional storytelling, character-driven narrative, action sequences, and Holland's performance as Peter Parker. Several critics have also described it as the strongest Spider-Man film since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2.

In the Philippines, the film earned approximately ₱95.9 million on its opening day, according to Columbia Pictures. The figure marks the biggest opening day for a Spider-Man film in Philippine history, the largest opening ever for a Sony Pictures release, and the biggest post-pandemic opening day in the country.

Internationally, Brand New Day also posted impressive results. In India, it set a new record for the biggest opening day by a non-Indian film, surpassing the previous benchmark set by Avengers: Endgame. Analysts are also projecting one of the year's biggest worldwide opening weekends for a Hollywood release.

Months before its release, the film had already generated unprecedented interest. Its official trailer amassed 718.6 million views within 24 hours, becoming the most-viewed movie trailer in history, according to Sony Pictures and industry reports.

With strong reviews, record-setting box office numbers, and enthusiastic audience response, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has begun its theatrical run on a high note, reinforcing Spider-Man's status as one of the world's most enduring and successful superhero franchises.
