TWO ARRESTED AFTER VIRAL VIDEO ALLEGEDLY SHOWS EARRING REMOVED FROM FLOOD VICTIM

Police have arrested two men after a video circulating widely on social media allegedly showed an earring being removed from the ear of a person who died after being swept away by flooding in the Bhote Koshi River.

The video, which quickly gained attention online, prompted police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the treatment of the deceased flood victim.

Chitwan Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Poudel said the two individuals seen in the video were taken into police custody near Pokhara Buspark in Bharatpur on Thursday. They were later turned over to the District Police Office for further investigation.

Police identified the suspects as 25-year-old Madan Gurung and 38-year-old Umesh Chaudhary.

Authorities are now examining the video and gathering other evidence to establish what happened and determine whether any offense was committed.

Police have yet to disclose further details on the circumstances under which the earring was allegedly removed. It also remains unclear whether the item has been recovered.

The incident has sparked concern and criticism on social media, particularly over the alleged treatment of victims who died amid the ongoing flooding disaster.
