ALEX EALA MAKES HISTORY, BECOMES FIRST FILIPINA TO WIN AT WIMBLEDON

Philippine tennis star Alex Eala achieved another historic milestone on Tuesday after defeating Mexico’s Renata Zarazúa, 6-1, 6-2, in the opening round of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships.

The 29th-seeded Eala delivered a dominant performance on the grass courts of the All England Club, needing just 78 minutes to secure the victory and advance to the second round of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament. The win marked the first Wimbledon main draw victory of her career and established her as the first Filipina player to win a main draw singles match at Wimbledon.
