US-based Filipina martial artist Alexandria Enriquez brought the Philippines its first gold medal at the Asian Beach Games after a breathtaking 5-0 score against Korea's Yeonji Lee at the Sanya Bay Yuhai Club.

After a 63 kg match and a back-to-back win of Enriquez against China and Thailand, she proceeded to the final match against Shamma Alkalbani and successfully won and bagged the champion title for jiu-jitsu.
“I feel so much pride and joy. First of all, all glory to God. I was born in the Philippines—we immigrated to the States when I was very young, six years old, " Enriquez shared as she took pride in bringing home the title.
She also shared that she was proud of her achievement even after having a decade of hiatus in the sports line.
"To be able to come back and experience it as an adult, and to be part of something much larger than I am, is such a great honor.” Enriquez added.
Enriquez also shared that she has been in sports for almost 15 years now and the key to her achieving her goal is hard work and consistency with your goal.
"Hard work and being consistent. Above all, you can work hard, and the goal is to be consistent for as long as you can. I've been doing this sport for more than 10 years—15 now;and consistency has gotten me to where I am."
